11: 11: Second House or Second Bhava’s position is in the Rasi of the Second from the Lagna/Ascendant in the natal chart.
Remember: Rasis are fixed spaces in the heavens. They infuse power or energy to all celestial bodies that passes through them.
Grahas are moving celestial objects that pass through these energized zones and receive+are influenced by them.
Grahas themselves possess certain attributes. They also have ownership of these Rasis/Signs which means that they gain strength or lose strength when they pass through these energized fixed Rasi zones depending on their relationship with the owners or rulers of these signs.
We have covered all of this before. Please refresh if you have forgotten.
11: 12: The Second House or Bhava is the Rasi which is situated North-East to the Lagna/Rising Ascendant at the time of birth.
In every ancient textbook, the Bhavas or Houses start with assigning a body part to the houses. This is very important. But we have to know THE WHY.
11: 13: The Second House represents the native’s face and neck.
The face is the calling card of our body. People remember us by our faces and voices when they see us. If you remember the very first week and the first lesson of the bootcamp, we spoke about Jnanendriyas. All the sense organs through which we absorb jnana or knowledge of the world around us is on the face. These are the 5 nodes of perception known as Jnanendriyas(ears, eyes, nose, mouth and skin).
The mouth also functions as the organ that enables us to do our kriyas. As Karmendriya, it is how we eat to nourish this body as well as speak to communicate with others.
So the second house/bhava plays several very important roles. It helps us gain knowledge and helps us perceive the world around us. It is also responsible for how the world perceives us through our speech. It also helps us interact with the world around us.
The world will know us by the significations of the second house(communication) and we know the world through the significations of the second house.(face)
Of course, the mouth is also how we eat. So there exists a connection between our speech/communication and the food we eat. Do you remember what we learnt about the Gunas? The food we eat affects how we communciate. This is why our scriptures insist on saatvic diet for those who are priests and chant mantras and a rajasic diet for those who transact more in the materiality of life and tamasic diets for those who toil and fight. The second house is where we see this in a chart.
Assignment 1: If second house is in a Tamasic Rasi or has a Tamasic Graha in it, what can you predict about the native’s speech, teeth, food preferences etc. Test on 3-5 charts to confirm your prediction.
11.14: The second house also denotes family. This is our family of birth or origin..our lineage. Just like face is our calling card visually, our family name is the identifier for people to know where we come from…
We use the initials of our parents or the last name of our spouses or our family surname to announce where we come from and there are even those who add the name of their village or birth place to declare their origins. Our communication and how we speak is also something we learn from our parents/family when we grow up. Early childhood determines the entire map of the rest of our lives.
Hence the Second House becomes our house of Resources. Our wealth is our name. Our reputation that comes from how we speak and how we communciate. But it is also material wealth. Second House is everything that we bring with us into this lifetime as resources and it is due to our previous karmas.
If someone is born into a rich family and with a silver spoon, it will show in their second house. If someone is born under constrained circumstances, this too is for a reason. This is entirely due to previous life’s karma. It lies down the foundation to prepare the soul for it’s life goals/purpose by creating an abundance or scarcity of resources. It is this early childhood/family environment that shapes an individual personality/character.
11.15: In the Kalapurusha or The Cosmic Man’s chart, the second house is in the Rasi of Taurus. Whatever Taurus represents for the Kalapurusha, the 2nd House Rasi or Second House/Bhava would represent for the chart native.
11.16: What does this mean?
Taurus represents the face, neck of the Kalapurusha. So does the Second Bhava/House aka Lagna for the native.
Second House is also called Dhana Bhava
The Karaka of the Second Bhava is the Jupiter.
The 2nd Bhava doesnt provide directional strength to any graha here.
What Taurus is to Kalapurusha, 2nd Bhava is to the native. Remember that Taurus is Rajas Guna and the motivation is Artha.
Direction of 2nd House is North East.
2nd House/Bhava represents Resources.
